Hi to all, this is Keith in New Zealand. I have just found my first antique outboard, a 1928 Elto Quad. Is this the start of another obsession?

My main hobby is racing vintage motorcycles down here. I'm currently racing a 1928 AJS flattank 500 with hand gearchange.
Went down to Invercargill to the Burt Munro Challenge and raced on Oreti Beach that famous old piece of sand in the movie.

I originately thought the Elto powerhead would make a great bike engine but I have seen reason after looking at the net and I'll get it running and hopefully find or build a suitable boat for it.

My wife Annie and I lived in Bellingham WA for a few years back in the 80s. I worked at Nordic Yachts on the Guide Meridian and also Colormaster a bodyshop in Bellinham. Great memories of the NorthWest.

I'll have a million question for you guys, look forward to hearing from you, cheers Keith McLeod
