I think this is a great board but it doesn't seem like many members use it. Sorry I missed Baker Lake. It is a great lake With those 4 stroke motors you could enjoy Lake Whatcom. It isn't available to those of us with 2 stroke motors.

I have parts and complete motors, www.bearcat55.com is my site. Also, looking for Bearcat 85 with cash in hand. Also any NOS stashes of parts. Used engines too. Does anyone read this board?! Baker Lake was fun, rode with Tom Albertine in his aluminum boat, powered nicely with the little 18hp. What a blast.

I need a rope sheave for this motor, or an entire mag for it, including the rope sheave and flywheel. Jerry Bell 2127 N. 148th St., Shoreline, WA 98133-6711 (206) 362-9137 j.k.bell@att.net

I need a pair of motors for a Power Cat project. I have 1ea Merc 650, 1963, and 1ea Merc 1000 1965, if anyone has a twin to one of those I'm interested.
OR
ANyone have a pair of anything else 50hp to 150hp?
A pair of later model dockbusters even? Now I'm really getting desperate!

Update on 650 Merc. When I last posted, the throttle was blocked from opening all the way by linkage problems. I flipped some stuff around and put a washer in to help it clear the block and now get 29 mph at WOT. I'm a happy camper except for missing most of the summer with motor problems and now I've put the boat and motor away until spring.

If you have pictures of it that you want to post, then you can do it like this:
Underneath the area where you type your message, there should be the words "Additional Options...". Click that, and then you should see a Browse button next to a white box. There will be some other things there, but just look for that Browse button. Click on the Browse button, and that will open up another screen that displays the files on your computer. Go to where the picture is at, click on the picture, click on open, and that will automatically input the picture code into the white box. Then when you post, the picture will be attached to your post (displayed underneath what you wrote in your post). People can then just click on the picture and will be able to see it. If you want to add more than one picture to your post, click on "(more attachments)" next to the Browse button. You can add up to four per post.
Hope that helps.

I have had this 1916 Evinrude for a little over 10 years now, and as I prepare to move by the end of the year, it is just one of many projects that I haven't gotten around to. So I am looking for offers for the motor, as I have yet to see another one for sale. It has very good compression, the mag needs to be re-wound, or run it with a coil. I fiddled around with it a couple years ago and had it running for a minute, but the fuel line leaks, and I don't really know much about setting the carb or timing for it, and I haven't messed with it since. I can e-mail pics to anyone interested. And I'll figure out how to post some here when I have more time. I can be contacted by e-mail at armond_deweese@hotmail.com or armonddeweese@gmail.com

Hi Bill, I just started looking at this site. Seems like a good one. I'm surprised it isn't used more. I see many postings daily at Fiberglassics NW. I'm in Bellingham area so I'll snoop around a bit and see if I can find the cache you are hearing about. Thought Bearcats only came in 55s. On other subject, my Merc 650 is running but not getting as many RPMs as I'm told I should. Managed a top of 4,400 but didn't seem like throttle was wide open. The distributor and the linkage are stopped by the motor before the magneto reaches the stop by nearly a half inch. Can't figure it out. Well, according to my speedometer, I'm going 22 mph at 4,400. Guess that's good enough. Jerry

Has it been that long? I've had my Merc 650 fixed about a dozen times since you asked and I hadn't been back to this site. Yesterday I fixed it again. Called to tell you about it but you were out. Anyway, the engine, fuel pump and mag/distributor have all been rebuilt professionally. Then it wouldn't run above a fast idle. David Bernard, a member from New York, walked me through the problem on the phone. It was a matter of something stuck in the mag. I got it loosened up yesterday. Today I put the boat in the water and miracles of miracles it got up on plane. Topped out at 20 mph but I suppose that is the best I can hope for with 65 hp on a heavy 18 foot cruiser. Later today, tomorrow and the next day I'm going salmon fishing. Saturday, if it is still running, off to Lake Whatcom!
